Lake Placid Updates

Well......it is Friday....seems like a long long time since Wednesday.

Let me get you caught up.
First MOB Update - In an epic battle of Black vs Blue....or Mike vs Don (sorry brother) - It was a tough low scoring game....Black got behind 3 - 1....but rallied late to win it 4 - 3 and will face Gold Rush, who dominated Red...in the Campbell Cup next Wednesday. Congrats to Brad Sanderson and Carl Krebss for outstanding goaltending....they were great.

After that game we drove overnight and got to our motel....we could not check in, 8am - so we went to the pool area and 5 of us stretched out on the lounge chairs to get some sleep.

Our first game was at 1:30pm against Mr. Boh from Baltimore, Maryland. It was a good tough game. We were down 9 to 7 late in the game....and we scored 2 quick goals to make it 9 - 9. We got the ball back with 1 minute to go and called a time out. We discussed our strategy and with 30 seconds to go we made our play, Kevin Board got open and rang a hard shot off the goal post. The last 30 seconds was like slow motion, as Mr. Boh slowly moved up the field, passed it around and (you guessed it) with one second on the clock threw a bounce shot that found the top corner of the net.....i have to tell you, it was a really tough loss.

Last night we went to a fundraiser for US Lacrosse...discussed the game over and over...it never got better.....it was time to move on.

Our next game was at 10:30 this morning against The Down East Laxpros from Maine. What a beautiful setting for a lacrosse game. Here a picture of some of the guys just before game time.

Gary, Cort, Peter, Brad and John

It was a hot, but beautiful day, and we felt great. We basically controlled this game from the start, great goaltending from Ted Sawicki, a couple of very pretty goals from John Elliot and some incredible ballet like manoeuvres from Joe Masterson and Gary Walker. A solid performance by all and we won this one 11 - 6.

We feel like we are competitive...the first loss is still felt....but we will soldier on.

This is such a great tournament, so much fun....with a great group of guys.

We play at noon tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

*Special Mention* - Dave Johnston and Bob Simpson also played yesterday in an over 60 division game....they won...and got 2 goals each. Awesome Effort.

***special note*** - U19 Provincials start tomorrow....Go North Stars Go!
